Rocky Ford Cantaloupe

World Famous Since 1887

Our famous Rocky Ford Cantaloupe™ was born when pioneer G. W. Swink grew the first melons beginning in 1887. Rocky Ford Cantaloupe™ was soon being distributed to distant local markets. By 1881, Swink was growing and shipping as much as 300 tons of watermelons per year. Rocky Ford and its surrounding area began to flourish.

By 1896, train car loads of the now famous cantaloupe were being shipped to markets as far as New York. Soon they started appearing on menus of New York’s finest restaurants and became known around the world as the famous Rocky Ford Cantaloupe™.
